Submission to the Publication of interim decision proposing to amend, or not amend, the current Poisons Standard, September 2018
The Therapeutic Goods Administration Interim Decision reclassifies volatile alkyl nitrites from Schedule 4 to Schedule 9, treating them like illicit drugs and imposing criminal sanctions on users. Health Equity Matters and the National LGBTI Health Alliance oppose this, citing overstated toxicity, limited evidence, lack of consultation, and potential harm from criminalising marginalised populations.
